Arytenoid Muscle System OR Chest
The Arytenoid Muscle System produces a texture of sound that some would call chest voice, and is responsible for:
- keeping the cords thick so as to create the lowest pitches,
- closing the cords as the pitch rises,
- increasing and decreasing volume, and
- defining the vowel initially.
This muscle system is responsible for all vocal jobs – except for pitch regulation with the exception of the very lowest pitches.
